When Death Comes A Knockin’ takes a real to the bone look at death and the grieving process.  Vanessa A. Johnson should know a lot about death and grieving, AS she has experienced MORE OCCURRANCES WITH death in one lifetime than the law should allow.  Mrs. Johnson takes us into her story and teaches otherS (s)how to deal with grief, BY letting them know that they are not alone.

When Death Comes A Knockin’ gives a detailed timeline and series of events on various deaths right down to the recent death of the author’s father.  In reading When Death Comes A Knockin’, one would never know by talking to Mrs. Johnson that she has endured SO MUCH such tragedy.  She unselfishly still finds time to help others with issues and deal with HER lossES.

This book is a non-fiction work and throughout, Mrs. Johnson uses scripture to BRING show comfort to the reader.  Throughout the deaths of various family members down to her own child(ren) and HER parents, Vanessa Johnson kept the faith and teaches in this literary work that death is imminent and that it is possible to get past the hurt.

In addition to scripture passages, Mrs. Johnson uses various poetry entries, Internet sources as well as a helpful journal at the end of the book TO COMFORT THE READER

Mrs. Johnson explains in this literary work that she was tired of picking up (a) bookS on the grieving process written by medical professionals, psychologists and religious clergy.  (Vanessa) JOHNSON says, “I felt the need to connect with other people who had lost a loved one, to be comforted by them, a fOR(ro)m of validation that we are not alone in our pain.”(.)

When Death Comes A Knockin’ hits it right on the head when dealing with death and grief and acceptANCE(ing), AND REMINDS US that we all will experience death in some form or fashion in our lifetime.  The author teaches the reader that it is okay to grieve, but it is survival to move paSt the grief.

When Death Comes A Knockin’ is a MUST read for those who have lost a loved one as well as those who haven’t.  This book should be read and shared for years to come.  This book, BECAUSE OF ITS CONTENT, will never be outdated.
