April
is National Child Abuse Month and
Behind the Closet Door: Christ’s
Rescue from Abuse by author
Sharon C. Jenkins is right on time.
Behind the Closet Door is a
tool to aid in the healing process for those who have suffered abuse.
Ms. Jenkins
uses various stories from various characters as they describe their
tales of abuse and fear. She conveniently backs each chapter with
biblical scripture and space to journal.
It has been said and proven that writing things down, in the form
of journaling, has helped many heal. The author’s attempt at cleverness
is successful. While reading a book such as this, many never make it to
retrieve that pen or pad. With this book, they the space is provided for
them.
Each story will touch you as each character describes some of their
darkest hours, especially Sharon. The author uses biblical and spiritual
annotation to help soothe the hurt and shows examples of how God didn’t
make any mistakes when he made you. Each experience that we go through
is part of our make-up and is part of God’s unique plan for us.
If you are, or know someone that is, being abused, look to God for
guidance and comfort. He is the only one that can see you through.
If you know of a child that is being abused, please contact your local
authorities and or your local child abuse hotline.
